Thanks to Richard Goodey of Lost Earth Adventures for this short video of his highlights on the Manaslu Circuit Trek 14 day Itinerary.

The Manaslu Circuit is a remote mountain trek that offers spectacular scenery and a fantastic insight into the communities that live high in the Himalaya. This is an ideal introduction to Nepalese trekking for those who don’t mind forgoing a few luxuries in exchange for an exciting and authentic adventure. This too is a perfect experience for seasoned Nepal trekkers whom have hiked the more popular and developed trails and would like to explore routes off the beaten path.
The Manaslu Circuit has only recently been able to be done as a teahouse trek. The lodges along the way are not as luxurious as the ones in the Annapurna or Everest regions, but this is part of what makes it so special. It is an authentic adventure staying with local families in their rustic and homely lodges that they have built themselves and to eat produce that has been grown in their gardens and small plots.
Along the way you’ll meet yak trains coming from the Tibetan border and experience a life that seems lost in time; a place where locals still travel by foot or horseback, exchanging goods along ancient trading routes and where internet, roads and busses simply do not exist. Make the most of your trip; try the local foods and homemade fire water, take time to learn about the cultures you encounter and to take in the scenery.
A good sleeping bag is needed, as well as an acceptance of fairly rustic accommodation and lofty walkways. As long as you have a good head for heights you will get to experience the splendour of trekking in such a remote landscape, far beyond the beaten path.
The pass at a breathtaking 5135m high is a big challenge with even greater rewards when you finally reach the top. The view presents a panoramic backdrop of the mighty Annapurnas and is surely one of the best views anywhere on the planet. Standing right in the middle of the highest mountain range on earth, a long way from civilization you’ll realise what a truly magical experience trekking the Manaslu Circuit is.
